Do Good Co.

We celebrate our female store founders every day here at afloat, but we are extra excited to highlight this female curator during women’s history month.

Meet Ashley, the woman behind the doors at Do Good Co. A style-maven herself, she has carefully curated the selection at Do Good to be Kansas City’s finest vintage and sustainable furniture and clothing store. The best part? All proceeds from Do Good Co. benefit two local Kansas City charities, Wayside Waifs and KidsTLC. From vintage Chanel to contemporary designers to oushak rugs, Do Good Co. has sustainable style for everyone.

We are so excited to have Do Good Co. on the afloat app. With each purchase, you can rest assured that not only is your gift benefiting a local storefront, but it’s also benefiting two local causes. Now, that’s something we can celebrate every day.

Tell us about Do Good Co. How did it start?
It started with sustainability and wanting to give things a second life and give back to the community by helping in different ways than we’d seen before.

When did Do Good Co. start?

It seems like it was many years ago! It started in 2016 on 39th Street and then it transpired into what it is now on 18th Street in the Crossroads. We’re right next to Grinders and Mission Taco on 18th – come and see us!

Tell us about the give back part of Do Good Co. How does it work?
We accept all donations of contemporary and vintage clothing (we count vintage as anything from the 90s) as well as some furniture! We’ll work with you to arrange pick-up or you can schedule a dropoff at our donation location in Fairway, KS. After that, we’ll send you an itemized tax receipt.

Wow, that is so easy to donate! Are there other ways to get involved?
Yes, of course! We accept monetary donations on our website or welcome anyone with a talent to share.

Sustainability is such an important part of the way we live in our world today. How do you ensure that all of your products at Do Good have that sustainability piece?
When things are donated to us, if we’re not able to use them on the floor then we’ll have a yard sale. After that we’ll find another organization to donate them to in order to ensure the products have a second life. For wholesale items, we research to ensure these items come from a sustainable source. We’re excited to have local KC-makers in Do Good Co.

We’re curating a playlist to celebrate IWD. What’s the first song on your playlist? (Psst: you can listen to our playlist here)

It has to be anything Spice Girls!

It’s international women’s history month – what’s your go-to gift from Do Good for your gal pals?
You’re the (bath) bomb! Perfect for a day of self-care or to gift to a friend who just needs a day to themselves.
