What inspired you to start your business?
My mom gave me A LOT of vanilla beans one year and I decided to make teacher’s gifts of vanilla extract. I shared with a chef friend about my gifts and he knew that vanilla can be made even more delicious when made with a variety of top-shelf spirits. We developed our hand-crafted line of exceptional vanilla extracts to complement the ingredients in your recipes and give them unforgettable flavor.
What is the meaning behind your business’ name?
Vain – There’s nothing boring about our exceptional vanilla extracts. The flavor will have you showing off your favorite recipe and everyone asking for the recipe!

My husband made small paperweights to represent the birth weights of our preemie triplets.
What is your word of advice to someone wanting to start their own business?
Ask yourself if you are a problem solver and you like learning new things. You’ll do both every single day in your business. It takes courage and perseverance!
